When you’re setting goals as an administrative assistant or executive assistant, don’t buy into these myths. They’ll only make your goal-setting job harder. Here’s the real truth about these falsehoods.
MYTH #1: All administrative professionals have the same goals.
FALSE: Not so! That’s like saying all managers have the same goals. Or all executives have the same goals. Wouldn’t that be silly? Goals should be personalized to you, your role, your employer and so forth. Administrative professionals are not one entity; thus, goals are not interchangeable among admins everywhere. You’re a distinctive administrative professional. Distinguish yourself and what you do.
Each administrative professional is an individual doing an individual job. Your goals will differ from the administrative professional in the next office and the ones in the company next door, even if only slightly at times. You’re not all “one person.”
